When you get in touch

If you use the contact form, you send me your name, email address and your message, and tell me what it's about. If it's about a retreat or a wedding, the form also asks for a few details: your preferred dates and number of guests, or your wedding date, venue and party size. It comes to me by email so I can reply. Formspree delivers the form and keeps a copy of each message in its records. I use your details only to answer you. I never sell them, and I never add you to a mailing list without asking.

If you join my newsletter, you send me your first name and email address. I use them to send you occasional news and offers, and joining enters you in my monthly giveaway. Mailchimp keeps the list and sends the emails. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and your details stay on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you.

Visitor numbers

I count visits so I know which pages are useful. The counts come from Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you. For each visit it records the page, the site you came from, your general location (country, region and city), and your type of device and browser. It tells one visitor from another with a code that is thrown away after 24 hours, so nothing links your visits over time. I only ever see the totals, and they're kept for up to a year.

Cookies

This site doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. The newsletter signup at the foot of every page and the contact form are protected from spam by Cloudflare Turnstile. It checks technical details such as your browser and IP address to tell people from bots. It sets no cookies, and Cloudflare uses what it sees only for spotting bots.

The map on the contact page comes from Google Maps, so Google sees your visit to that page and may use its own cookies there. Booking, gift cards and shop checkout happen on Square's own secure pages, under Square's privacy policy, and your card details go to Square, never to me.

Where the site runs

The site is hosted on Vercel by OBdesign, the Salt Spring and Victoria web studio that built it. Neither of us sells or shares your information. Some of the services named here are based outside Canada, so your information may be stored or processed in another country and be subject to its laws.
