When is a facial not just a facial?

A facial at Figs & Honey is never only about the skin. Here's a little of how I think about the work — and what these seasonal notes will hold.

Welcome to the Journal — a quiet corner of Figs & Honey where I'll share seasonal notes on skincare, the healing arts, and life here on Salt Spring Island.

More than skin

People often arrive for a facial and leave a little surprised. Yes, we tend to the skin — cleansing, nourishing, the slow massage and lymphatic work that leaves you glowing. But somewhere in the hour, the shoulders drop, the breath slows, and something else softens too.

That's no accident. After more than twenty years of practice, I've come to believe the skin and the nervous system keep close company. So I weave a little energy work into nearly everything I do — a few minutes of Reiki, some gentle tapping, a moment of real stillness.

What you'll find here

In the seasons to come, I'll write about:

  • Caring for your skin through Salt Spring's changing weather
  • The plants and oils I reach for again and again
  • Small rituals to carry the calm of a treatment home with you

Thank you for being here. Settle in, and I'll see you soon.
